When a new threat surfaces, the platform enables organizations to shift from IT tickets or vendor requests to iterative microlessons delivered the same day. This puts the people behind security back at the center, empowering practitioner expertise, making awareness more habitual, and using every interaction to fuel a feedback loop that strengthens the human layer of defense.

About the role

We are looking for a Head of Demand Generation to own the engine that drives Herd's pipeline. You will build and scale the programs that get Herd in front of CISOs, Security Directors, and IT leaders — from first touch through qualified opportunity.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will set the strategy and execute it yourself in the early days, building the playbook that a growing team will eventually run. You will work directly with the founders and sales to align marketing spend with revenue outcomes.

What you'll do

  • Own the full demand generation funnel — from awareness through marketing-qualified pipeline
  • Build and optimize multi-channel campaigns across paid media, SEO/content, email nurture, webinars, events, and partnerships
  • Develop and manage the marketing tech stack (HubSpot, Google Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, analytics tooling)
  • Create and execute ABM programs targeting mid-market and enterprise security teams
  • Analyze campaign performance rigorously — CAC, pipeline velocity, conversion rates — and reallocate spend based on what's working
  • Collaborate with content and product marketing to produce assets that convert (landing pages, case studies, one-pagers, ad creative)
  • Partner with sales to ensure tight lead handoff, feedback loops, and shared pipeline goals

You may be a good fit if you

  • Have 5-8+ years of experience in B2B demand generation or growth marketing, with at least 2 years in a leadership or solo-owner role
  • Have built demand gen programs at a startup or early-stage SaaS company (not just inherited them)
  • Are deeply analytical and make decisions based on data, not gut feel
  • Are a strong writer who can craft compelling messaging and review copy with a sharp editorial eye
  • Understand how to market to security and IT buyers — or are eager to learn the space fast
  • Are comfortable being both strategic and tactical — you can build the plan and also send the emails

Strong candidates may also have experience with

  • Marketing to CISOs, IT security teams, or compliance buyers
  • Running paid campaigns on LinkedIn and Google with meaningful budget
  • ABM tools and strategies (Demandbase, 6sense, or similar)
  • SEO-driven content strategy that generates organic pipeline
  • Event marketing — both hosting webinars and sponsoring industry conferences

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $110,000–$170,000 OTE
